From the cheese case

From England comes the famous Stilton cheese for its strong aroma, yet nutty flavor. Its pungent taste can also be found in a layered with Double Gloucester cheese to break up the intensity. You will also find a Coastal Cheddar cheese that comes from the Southern Coast of England.

Canadian Extra Sharp Cheddar is a full-bodied cheddar with a smooth texture. It pairs well with sweet fruits such as apples or pears.

France is a very large producer of a great variety of cheeses. Le Somport is a popular French cheese with a spongy texture and sweet, yet meaty flavor. Lingot on the other hand is a goat cheese. Its flavor is much more tangy with a soft texture. Clarines is also a soft and creamy cheese that pairs well with breadsticks or a fresh baguette.

Gouda is Holland's most prized cheese. It can be extra ages, mild or smoked, each of which has completely different tastes.

Italian cheeses are always great additions to pasta dishes, wine and cheese parties or even as a snack. Parmesan is the most known Italian cheese. It's hard and gratable with a salty taste. Fontina is also hard and gratable, but has a nutty flavor. Rochetta on the other hand is a cheese that has been blended with cow's, sheep's, and goat's milk. It's dense, smooth texture is quite unique.

Jarlsberg is a Norwegian cheese made from mild cow's milk. It has a milk, buttery flavor that's great served with crackers.

Manchego is a cheese made in the La Mancha region of Spain. It's made from a special breed of sheep, this cheese is compact and buttery. Iberico cheese is a mixture of cow's, goat's and sheep's milk. It comes from Central Spain and ranks among the hardest cheeses.

The Swiss make a handful of famous cheeses. Gruyère is a sweet but slightly salty cheese that varies with age. As it ages it become more earthy tasting and slightly grainy. Another cheese from Switzerland is Emmentaler, a yellow, medium to hard cheese with large holes in it due to inconsistent pressing.

Palmer's carries a handful of great handmade cheeses from the United States. In particular, Willow Hill Farm in Milton, VT is a family run, organic farm that creates their cheeses according to original farmhouse recipes. Willow Hill Farm has many award-winning cheeses such as: Summertomme and Alderbrook. Taylor Farms is another farm located in Vermont. They produce many flavors of gouda cheese, including: chipotle, Garlic Cumin, and Maple Smoked.
